<main> <article class="userContent"> <p><strong>WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU BEGIN:</strong></p><ul><li>Your Hitron modem/router, plugged in and powered on.</li><li>A computer, tablet, phone, or other device with internet browsing software installed – Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, are typical examples</li><li>A connection between your device and the Hitron - We recommend doing this by connecting an Ethernet cord from your device to one of the LAN ports on the back of the Hitron. You can also connect using the default Wireless network found on a sticker on the back of the modem.</li></ul><h2 data-id="hitron-cgn3">Hitron CGN3</h2><ol><li>An “Easy Connect” screen should appear upon first connection.</li></ol><ul><li>If the Easy Connect page does not appear automatically, Open a Web Browser and go to <a href="/home/leaving?allowTrusted=1&target=http%3A%2F%2F192.168.0.1" rel="nofollow noreferrer ugc">http://192.168.0.1</a></li></ul><ol><li>Once on the Easy Connect screen, start by clicking <strong>“LET’S GO”</strong></li><li>Click <strong>“Test Connection”</strong> – this is just verifying you’re connected to the internet. If this step fails, please contact us.</li><li>Click “Set Up Wi-Fi” – Following the prompts on the screen, you will be directed to now change your <strong>SSID</strong> (i.e. your WiFi network name) to anything you like, and set up a personalized password you can remember. Click <strong>“Confirm Setup”</strong></li><li>Ensure you’re satisfied with your new settings on this summary page. Write down your SSID and password somewhere safe! If you’re happy – click <strong>“Complete My Setup”</strong></li><li>Click <strong>“Close”</strong> to finish the setup.</li><li>You can now connect to the new SSID using the password you selected during this setup.</li></ol><p>You can now connect to the new SSID using the password you selected during this setup.</p><h3 data-id="manual-wireless-changes-security">Manual Wireless changes / Security</h3><ol><li>Access the modem's interface via a web browser (default address is 192.168.0.1).</li><li>Provide the login credentials. The following are the default:</li></ol><ul><li>Username: cusadmin</li><li>Password: Wifi password, which is set up during the Easy Connect configuration</li></ul><ol><li>Click on the <strong>Wireless</strong> tab.</li></ol><ul><li>If accessing the interface from a small window or a mobile device, you may have to click on the <strong>button with 3 lines</strong> that is located on the top-right corner of the page.</li></ul><p><strong>Changing the wireless network name (SSID)</strong></p><ol><li>Click on <strong>Basic Settings</strong>, then on the desired band (<strong>2.5G</strong> or <strong>5G</strong>).</li><li>Change to the desired network name in the <strong>Network Name (SSID)</strong> text field.</li><li>Click on <strong>Save Changes</strong> when done.</li></ol><ul><li>After the changes has been applied, you will need to re-connect to the wireless network again, but with the new name. Refreshing the list of available networks after a few minutes may be needed.</li><li>Do not name both bands the same. For instance, if you name 2.4 Home Network call the 5 Ghz Home Network -5G</li></ul><ol><li>Repeat the previous steps with the other band.</li></ol><p><strong>Changing the wireless network security</strong></p><ol><li>Click on Wireless, then sub tab Basic Settings, then on the desired band (<strong>2.5G</strong> or <strong>5G</strong>).</li><li>Modify <strong>Security Mode</strong>, <strong>Auth Mode</strong> and <strong>Encryption Mode</strong> if needed.</li></ol><ul><li>It's recommended to leave them by default for maximum security and performance, which is <strong>WPA-Personal</strong> for Security Mode, <strong>Auto (WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK)</strong> for Auth Mode and <strong>AES</strong> for Encryption Mode. However, if your devices receive and Secruity issue you may want to manually switch the secruity level and save it. You may need to try both to see which one the device supports.</li></ul><ol><li>Change to the desired password in the <strong>Password</strong> text field.</li><li>Click on <strong>Save Changes</strong> when done.</li></ol><ul><li>After the changes has been applied, you will need to re-connect to the wireless network again, but by providing the new password.</li></ul><ol><li>Repeat the previous steps with the other band.</li></ol><ul><li>You can have the same password for both bands.</li></ul><h2 data-id="hitron-cgnm-3550">Hitron CGNM-3550</h2><ol><li>Navigate to the Hitron CGNM-3550's user interface. <em>(192.168.0.1)</em></li><li>Enter the administrative username and password in the <strong>Username</strong> and <strong>Password</strong> fields, then click <strong>Login</strong>.<ul><li>If not changed, Use the default credentials of <strong>cusadmin</strong> for the username and <strong>password</strong> for the password.</li></ul></li><li>Click on the <strong>Wireless</strong> tab.</li><li>Click on the <strong>Basic Settings</strong> tab.</li><li>Click on the <strong>2.4G</strong> tab.</li><li>Under <strong>Basic Settings</strong>, set the <strong>Wireless Enabled</strong> to <strong>ON</strong>.</li><li>Under <strong>Multiple SSID Settings</strong> and <strong>2.4G Primary SSID</strong>, set the <strong>Network Name (SSID)</strong> field to the preferred network name for the 2.4GHz network.</li><li>Select the preferred <strong>Security Mode</strong> and <strong>Auth Mode</strong>.</li><li>Select either AES or TKIP/AES for <strong>Encrypt Mode</strong>.</li><li>Enter the preferred wireless password in the <strong>Password</strong> field .</li><li>If you wish to select a specific wireless channel you may do so by altering the <strong>Wireless Channel</strong> field under <strong>Basic Settings</strong>.</li><li>Click <strong>Save Changes</strong>.</li><li>Click on the <strong>5G</strong> tab.</li><li>Under <strong>Basic Settings</strong>, set the <strong>Wireless Enabled</strong> to <strong>ON</strong>.</li><li>Under <strong>Multiple SSID Settings</strong> and <strong>5G Primary SSID</strong>, set the <strong>Network Name (SSID)</strong> field to the preferred network name for the 5GHz network. <em>Do not name the SSID the same as the 2.4. This means you will only see 1 Network even if you set up both differently.
