While you may not need it, you may choose to use one.
We offer two types of modems in most areas. Stand alone modems with no built in wireless abilities, and combination units. When you sign up or purchase your own approved modem you will need to check if wireless is included.
While Combination units are convenient they are more like a "Jack of all trades" type of device. They can do both but they do not excel in either category. A personal router on top of a modem will give you many more features, along with ability to pick out the best one to suit your needs. Many customers require wireless ranges a combination can not provide or more advanced options in a router. All router's will work with our modems.
There are also cases where wireless may not reach a certain room in your location, or the range is very poor. You may need to look into a high powered range router, wireless extender / booster, or even a Mesh system. We do not provide these but all of them will work with our equipment. You would want to research online to find the best one to suit your needs and how to set them up in your location.
