To find out, enter your address in the Check Availability section on our Website! Then click Order now on one of the TekTalk packages!
Proceed until you see Configure your phone number. Select I'd like to keep my Existing phone number. Enter the date, and the number. If you receive: This number is Eligible for Transfer as the message, then you are all good to go!
Why can I not transfer my number?
Your number may be discontinued, pending cancellation, or having complications with the current provider. Your number may also not be in Rate Centers across Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia we have access to. If we cannot port it, we can offer a new number in its place.
Important Notes about Transferring
Do not cancel the number with your current provider. We will cancel the number on your behalf once we take it to our services. If the number is pending any cancellations, you will want to remove those before proceeding.
Ensure the Name and Address sections are entered exactly as they are on the current service invoice. Any differences can create delays or errors.
If you are unsure of the current provider, please double check with them before placing the order. As some providers use another service that has their numbers. We need the main company in question.
If you are on Traditional Plain Old Telephone line (POTS) with DSL on that line, your DSL will stop working once the number is ported. Ensure the company for your DSL is aware to issue a Wet Loop to Dry Loop well in advance to avoid complications.
